Addiction

Mr. Colterjohn has been working in the substance abuse field for over 20yrs.  In addition to his experiences in private practice, he has provided individual and group psychotherapy in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings to individuals confronting addiction.

Mark believes in addressing issues on an intellectual, emotional and spiritual level to facilitate healing.  In addition to individual psychotherapy he finds that twelve step groups, mindfulness meditation, as well as other forms of spirituality are often helpful in the process of recovering from addiction.

Mr. Colterjohn’s own spiritual training has informed his work with those suffering from addiction. He has taken traditions from many different spiritual cultures and integrated them into his own spirituality. He has a passionate interest in the nature of ritual in spiritual traditions and its role in facilitating personal transformation.

He has a particular interest in the ritual spirituality of the Maori people of New Zealand. His own experience with Maori spirituality and the use of ritual tattoos in the expansion of meditative states of awareness has been particularly impactful in his understanding of the power of ritual in spiritual transformation in recovery.
